Sheffield United player celebrates goal with tribute to WWE legend Mick Foley

Sheffield United captain Billy Sharp scored twice Saturday to earn an away draw with Norwich City in the English Championship, and one of the forward’s celebrations went viral on Twitter.

On the eve of the 2019 Royal Rumble, Sharp channeled WWE icon Mick Foley by pulling out a sock and performing the “Mandible Claw” on a teammate.

If you’re not well-versed in late-’90s WWE, the Mandible Claw was Foley’s signature submission move. He would carry a sock with a drawn-on face – Mr. Socko – and pull it over his arm before shoving his hand into his opponent’s mouth. If that sounds gross and terrible, well, that’s kind of the point.

Sheffield United’s Billy Sharp broke out Mr. Socko after scoring Saturday.
