Chiefs linebacker Dee Ford was called for a critical offsides penalty that negated a game-sealing interception by Kansas City.
Though the replays appeared to show Ford lined up in the neutral zone, the camera angle wasn’t ideal. It left enough room for interpretation that conspiracy theories began floating around social media.
But it was only a matter of time until a line-of-scrimmage view surfaced. That happened on Tuesday, and it confirmed the official’s call on the field. Ford was clearly lined up in the neutral zone.
We can see that Ford’s right arm is beyond the football. A closer look from the line-of-scrimmage vantage point also hit Twitter, adding more credence to the ruling.
The penalty won’t help Chiefs fan get over the loss, but at least it wasn’t another Rams-Saints situation. The call was correct.
They got it right.
