Even 'Madden' referees called pass interference on the botched Saints-Rams play

The Rams escaped from New Orleans with a controversial and thrilling overtime win on Sunday to advance to Super Bowl LIII, but Saints fans may never get over an obvious blown call that helped keep Los Angeles in the game.

With under two minutes remaining and the score tied, Drew Brees fired a pass from inside the Rams’ red zone to Tommylee Lewis, who was hit by Rams’ CB Nickell Robey-Coleman before the ball arrived. The call was obvious no matter what camera angle you watch, yet no flag was thrown. Saints coach Sean Payton said officials told him they missed the call, and Robey-Coleman said after the game that he definitely interfered.

MLB Network’s Robert Flores shared a video of a near-perfect recreation of the play in Madden, and even the virtual officials knew to throw the flag.

YouTube channel TPS used the game’s settings to turn the pass interference slider down to a minimum – and referees still threw a flag for the hit.

Better luck next year, Saints fans.
