Chiefs' Dee Ford kept the Patriots' Super Bowl hopes alive by lining up offsides on INT

The NFC Championship was a crazy overtime affair with plenty of controversy, so what did we get in the AFC Championship?

A crazy overtime affair with plenty of controversy. The Patriots won, 37-31.

After a weird roughing the passer penalty led to a Patriots go-ahead drive, the Chiefs came back with their own touchdown drive full of make-up calls. Still, Tom Brady got the ball back with two minutes remaining, and we were all expecting it to end with a New England win … because Tom Brady.

Then, it almost didn’t. Almost. Brady threw a third down interception that would have sealed the game for Kansas City. Just one problem: Dee Ford was offsides.

As NFL fans were preparing to shout “RIGGED,” the replay did show that Ford was indeed lined up in the neutral zone. It was the correct call, and the Patriots went on to take the lead with a touchdown before Kansas City forced overtime. So much happened.

But for Ford, he was already being blamed for costing Kansas City a sure Super Bowl berth.

Insane.
