It sounds as though the Los Angeles Valiant are gearing up for their big show match against the San Francisco Shock later this month, and adding another big match for more preparation. If you’re not aware, the two teams will be battling it out to determine who will be the first California Cup champion. That said, over on the UC Irvine Esports’ official Twitter, it was announced that the Valiant would be going up against their collegiate cousins in a friendly show match.
As mentioned in the above tweet, fans will be able to meet with members of both the Valiant and UCI teams following the match-up. The event is being held at the Terrace at UCI on October 11th at 7:00PM PST. The show match itself will be taking place during the UCI Esports Conference.
The ESC is the first academic event of its kind to focus on esports research and practice. Building on the momentum of our smaller summit meeting last year, the ESC will feature academic research presentations and symposia, collegiate program professionals panel discussions and post-mortems, and a public festival featuring vendor booths, a private reception, and a live streamed collegiate esports match in the UCI esports arena.
Tickets for the Conference are available here, and will set you back $150, minimum. There is no word on if the show match is a free event, or if paid entry is required. We will let you know if more information becomes available.
