NBA fans will recognize Bosh from his time on the Miami Heat, despite their falling to the Spurs in the 2013-2014 season. That said, Bosh isn’t joining Gen.G necessarily for his basketball prowess, but as a player management adviser for the organization.
Bosh will be a mentor for the teams within Gen.G and focus on leadership, teamwork, and dealing with the pressures of high-profile sports. Bosh has stated that he looks forward to seeing what he has to bring to the organization:
Everything about Gen.G aligns with my values and interests as an avid gamer.
Coaching and mentoring have always been part of my long-term plan in some capacity. We’re creating a culture of winning and integrity based on the concept of teamwork — I can’t wait to get started because the future of Gen.G, and esports as a whole, is extremely bright. I really appreciated Gen.G’s approach to building winning teams, they were one of the first esports organizations to hire psychologists, physical trainers, really putting the player’s health and well-being first. Gen.G is first-class all the way
Gen.G’s growth officer, Arnold Hur, has also expressed his pleasure with adding Bosh to their staff. Stating that he has high hopes for the organization moving forward.
Chris’ presence will have a profound effect on our players and the impact will be felt top-to-bottom within our organization.
He’s a winner and has the unique ability to get through to our players in a way that many coaches can’t. We’re thrilled to have him as the newest member of the Gen.G family.
Bosh currently holds two NBA titles, 11 All-Star appearances, and an Olympic Gold medal, and will play a critical role in Gen.G’s growth in the coming years.
